Combined Arms is proud to announce the appointment of Kelly Land to the position of Executive Director, starting August 15, 2016. Mr. Land is joining Combined Arms from M&I Electric, where he worked as a Sales Account Manager. Kelly brings the experience of being a volunteer Platoon Leader at The Mission Continues, where he organized a group of volunteers from the veteran and civilian community to work on health and food desert issues in the Acres Homes neighborhood. This mission involved building and refurbishing multiple community gardens in the Houston northwest community. Kelly also is currently serving on the board of the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, which has a goal to reduce the national suicide rate by 20% in the next 9 years. This is achieved through funding research, educational programs, public awareness, legislation, and program support for families affected by suicide.
Kelly Land will also be bringing his military experience to this new endeavor from the United States Navy, where he served for 10 years. As a pilot with Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 4, he served in operations out of Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy. He also deployed to Southwest Asia and served as an Officer Recruiter, where he was awarded Officer Recruiter of the Year in 2007 and 2008 while stationed in Austin, Texas. Kelly was commissioned to the US Navy in 2000 upon graduating from the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a degree in Marine Transportation.
Kelly has lived in Houston for the past six years with his wife Brianna and his two daughters, Maddie and Katie.
As Executive Director, Kelly will manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of Combined Arms, while building up the collaborative mission of uniting the community to accelerate the impact of veterans on Houston.
The Combined Arms Board of Directors selected Kelly Land from a competitive hiring process that involved more than 200 solicitations for candidates, 38 completed applications, and several rounds of interviews.
